I have worked in events production and management for over 2 years. Through the 2024 Festival and Carnival Lab Programme, I provided on-site event support and production coordination for high-footfall cultural events, such as Hackney Carnival and the Great Get Together Festival, as an assistant stage manager. As part of this cohort, I gained insight on programming festivals and large-scale, receiving mentorship from events production teams at Notting Hill Carnival, Glastonbury and Boiler Room.

In my current role as a project manager, I manage an events calendar. I facilitate interactive and collaborative workshops to provide bespoke PR and Communications career training to graduates. I have previously worked in hospitality, providing customer service at high profile events at venues such as the O2 and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. In this role, I had to constantly consider health and safety protocols as well as remembering to optimise customer enjoyment. Outside of my 9 to 5, I am a staff writer for discovery platform WNDRLST and we have thrown multiple events. On this team, I programmed and produced a free family day party at the Horniman Museum and Gardens with over 100 attendees. In December 2023, I was involved in the planning and execution of a New Year’s Eve party at Skylight Peckham. I promoted the event via social media to sell tickets and worked the door on the night.

I have a passion for storytelling and community. By combining these loves, I have started hosting a bi-monthly writing club at the Orange Room in Stratford. To bring this club to life, I had to focus on budgeting, agenda planning, liaising with venues, social media promotion and eventual execution. It has been an incredibly fulfilling experience to create a space for writers of all abilities and genres to connect.

I am a Music Business graduate with a focus on live events and music marketing. With extensive experience in both front-of-house and back-of-house roles, I have contributed to the successful execution of festivals, exhibitions, conventions, and sporting events. This includes work in visitor experience, artist liaison, traffic management, stage management, stage office administration and retail. My work has taken me to sites such as Somerset House, Glastonbury, Brockwell Park as part of Brockwell Live, among others. I also have a strong background in visual content creation as a videographer and photographer. The projects and teams I have been a part of have pushed me to be hardworking, organised, collaborative and show leadership in dynamic environments. Additionally, my time in pastoral care within education has helped me develop into a confident and empathetic communicator.

Through Festival Lab I have had placements at Glastonbury 2023, Secret Garden Party 2023, Hackney Carnival 2023, Notting Hill Carnival 2023, St. Pauls Carnival 2023, Caravanserai 2023 and International Festival Forum 2023. These placements greatly supported my understanding of the events landscape and helped establish a new professional network that I still employ for finding work. Moving forward, I aim to further pursue work in Artist/Visitor experience, working to ensure those entering the festival connect with the team and enjoy the venue. I also wish to pursue site and operational roles, as I thrive in the developing of projects from beginning to end.

Hi I'm Mya, a creative event strategist weaving culture, connection and live experience into moments that matter. For over five years I’ve brought brands to life through immersive campaigns and events that don’t just elevate but ignite conversation, challenge norms, and celebrate voices too often unheard. From leading the Lady of the House UK Tour with its powerful female and non-binary lineup, to curating annual International Women’s Day celebrations honoring women in music and coordinating the launch of Google Cloud in Stockholm, Sweden.

My work centers on creating spaces where emerging and established artists especially those of colour can thrive and inspire, while also supporting large-scale festivals and live events. This balance allows me to blend passion projects with high impact productions seamlessly.

Driven by a passion to dismantle barriers in the creative industry, I approach every project with a collaborative heart and strategic mind, crafting authentic stories that resonate and ripple far beyond the event itself.
